The Northern Block

Based in Northumberland, the fantastic Northern Block Type Foundry continues to go from strength to strength. We are proud to continue our partnership with them on the marketing for their latest font release, Nurom Next.

Over ten years in the making, Nurom Next is a true collaboration shaped by an international team. With a collective approach and a shared perspective, each pair of hands Nurom Next has passed through on its journey has brought something different to the typeface. There’s an alchemy to that, so it became the seed of our final proposition: Design as a Global Community. Execution plays to the strengths of Nurom Next. So, we present it across five languages through universal statements under a single proposition. The clean, staggered typographic approach references locations on a map, interlocking to illustrate connections. The simplicity of this idea means the character of Nurom Next shines through while reinforcing Jonathan’s; ‘quiet is better than loud’ idea that informed his final font design.
